Shops, pubs, cafes, restaurants, takeaways and businesses across Brighouse say they are still open for business as normal as major construction works begin in the town centre.
From Monday 12 January, and for the next 18 months, there will be a series of road closures, changes to traffic flow and the suspension of some on street parking spaces as part of the Brighouse Town Deal project.
Brighouse BID, which represents all the town centre’s businesses, are now launching a campaign to encourage everyone to continue to visit, support the shops and venues and ensure the town centre can continue to thrive despite the inevitable disruption.
They have launched a series of initiatives to help with that aim, including advertising that it’s business as usual, providing leaflets and flyers to help shoppers and visitors continue to access the town centre, and updated information on visitbrighouse.co.uk to help people to find car parking spaces despite the roadworks.
Helen Holdsworth, Brighouse BID project manager, said:
“There’s no getting away from the fact that the major works in Brighouse town centre will cause disruption but we are determined to do all we can to support our shops, venues and businesses over the next 18 months and encourage people to continue to visit, shop and enjoy our town.
“Our message to residents and visitors from across Calderdale and beyond is that we are open for business. We’ll do all we can to help you reach where you want to be in the town centre, find somewhere to park and discover our unrivalled range of shops, independents, food, drink and so much more.
“Please keep visiting, please keep shopping and we’ll keep welcoming you to a town that will look a bit different for a while, but it’s still the same Brighouse you know and love.”
