A time of change…
It’s a time of change in Brighouse – there’s lots of different projects going on that are changing our town, and these will be continuing over the next few years.
We’re not behind any of the work, but the fact it’s happening means we need your support more than ever of our shops, cafes, bars, restaurants, pubs and businesses across the town.
We’ll keep you updated on what’s happening and where you can find out more 🔽
The Wilko Site
Aldi are building a new store on the site of the former Wilko store in the heart of the town centre. Demolition of the old building is now underway and work will take many months to complete. The car park is closed during that time and will also be redeveloped as part of the development.

A641 Changes
The A641 Improvement Scheme’s intention is to deliver a more efficient transport network for Brighouse (and between Bradford and Huddersfield) to prioritise public transport, walking and cycling. Design work is currently underway with a series of surveys taking place in the town.

Wellholme Park
Large parts of Wellholme Park are currently closed, and will be until summer 2026, for a flood alleviation scheme by the Environment Agency. Work will also be taking place at Whinney Hill Park. The aim’s to protect homes and businesses along Clifton Beck and the River Calder from flooding.
