Brighouse BID Co-Chair Lesley Adams has today (Wednesday 15th January) written to shops, venues and businesses in the town centre about proposed changes to parking charges in off street car parks by Calderdale Council.
In the email, she says:
“We are aware that signage has gone up in car parks in Brighouse about proposed increases to charges for off-street parking.
As the BID, we hadn’t been told about this. Not consulted, not asked, not informed. I think that is shameful at a time when we are facing so much disruption as it is.
Like you, the first I knew and the first we knew was spotting the notices that had gone up today in our car parks. Upon searching the Council website, we have found the formal notice, published today, on the Traffic Regulation Order page here >>
Let’s be clear – at a time when we are facing such disruption with the Town Deal, it is, in my view, quite possibly the worst decision that could have been taken at the worst time by the Council. It’s a decision that makes me furious.
To have such substantial increases to off street parking during an 18 months where there is reduced on street parking simply does not make any sense.”
